Working at Het Broeker Huis
No corporate nonsense. Just a great team in a beautiful village.

Working in the most beautiful village in the Netherlands
Close to Amsterdam.
Het Broeker Huis is not a hospitality chain, not a hotel and not a conference centre. It is a village house with a restaurant, a courtyard and a team that looks every day at what's needed. Sometimes that means standing behind the bar, sometimes running a wedding, sometimes doing the dishes.
Here everyone does everything. We're looking for people who enjoy that — not because it says so in the job description, but because they wouldn't have it any other way.

Independent Cook | Chef de Partie
24–38 hours | Seasonally flexible | Preferably from 1 May
We're looking for a cook who can handle both restaurant service and the events kitchen. Someone who runs a lunch for twenty on Wednesday and a wedding dinner for ninety on Saturday. Who can set up a mise-en-place, push on independently, and doesn't panic when three things need doing at once and the mustard has run out.
You run the restaurant service on your own — lunch, dinner, coffee with cake. For events you set up the mise-en-place and prepare multi-course menus, buffets and receptions. Sometimes alone, sometimes with a commis chef. You manage the stock, order from regular suppliers, and think along about the menu.
Our kitchen is not a brigade with five stations and a shouting chef. It's a small kitchen in an old house, where you work with one or two people and where the distance between stove and guest is short. What you make goes straight to the table.
A few years' work experience as an independent cook. Diploma? Not important. Attitude and a good head on your shoulders? That's what matters most. Level-headed, warm, no fuss. Collective labour agreement for hospitality, job group 5, depending on experience. Your hours move with the season — you work more in spring and summer, and it gets quieter in winter.
Operations Manager
28–38 hours | Preferably from 1 May
We're looking for an operations manager who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves and keep the helicopter view. Someone who brings structure without killing the soul. Who can draw up a rota, negotiate hard with a supplier, and lead a team that runs at full strength on a Friday night.
You're responsible for running the entire operation. From the first coffee at half past eight to the last wedding guest who cycles home at midnight. You lead the front-of-house team, are the linchpin between dining room and kitchen, and make sure everything runs a little better every day. You manage purchasing and margins, make the rotas, coach on the floor, and build a team that can run on its own.
Het Broeker Huis is not a hospitality business with a mission statement on the wall and a manager who watches from the sidelines. It's a village house. What we're looking for is someone who gets that. Not someone who walks in with a paper master plan. But someone who feels something at the word 'living room', uses their head, sees what could be better, takes initiative and pushes on.
At least 3–5 years' experience in a leadership operational role. Diploma? Not important. Hospitality experience? A nice bonus, but not essential. Attitude and a good head on your shoulders? That's what matters most. Collective labour agreement for hospitality, job group 8–10, depending on experience. A place in the management team.
