Costs & booking
No packages, just clarity.
What does a party or wedding with you cost?
On average our guests pay €45 to €55 per person. But every party is different — the exact cost depends on the number of guests, the room(s), the menu and how long it runs. Room hire varies by space and group size. Drinks are always billed afterwards: you pay for what you drink, nothing more. Ask for a no-obligation estimate and we'll work it out for you.
And a meeting?
For business we charge per session: €48 per person for a half-day session, €50 for a full day. An off-site day with lunch and drinks comes to €95 per person. The meeting package includes coffee, tea, water, soft drinks and two snacks. Lunch is separate — from sandwiches to a shared lunch by the chef.
What is the exclusivity surcharge?
From 50 guests you hire Het Broeker Huis exclusively — because at that point we can no longer rent out the other spaces. You then pay an exclusivity surcharge instead of room hire.
And that surcharge has a purpose. In 1775 Neeltje Pater gave Het Broeker Huis to the Broek Church on the condition that the House is "never to be used other than for the general benefit of the citizens of Broek in Waterland". We still honour that condition today. Exclusivity isn't who we are — but we understand that sometimes you want to share your day only with your own people.
The surcharge goes to the Broeker Community Fund: social and community initiatives in our halls, and support for those with a little less to spend who, like everyone else, should be able to eat, drink and celebrate with us. So that Het Broeker Huis is always used for the general benefit — even when you have the courtyard to yourself for a while.
How does taking an option work?
After a tour or an estimate you can place a free option on your date. That option is valid for one month. After that it lapses automatically, unless we agree otherwise.
How much deposit is required?
25% of the total amount. Once paid, the booking is confirmed. We invoice the remaining amount after the event.
What if I have to cancel?
You can always cancel. More than six months in advance is free of charge. After that a sliding scale applies:
- More than 6 months — 0%
- 3 to 6 months — 10%
- 2 to 3 months — 15%
- 1 to 2 months — 35%
- 2 to 4 weeks — 60%
- 1 to 2 weeks — 85%
- Less than 1 week — 100%
Worried? You can take out cancellation insurance. And terms or no terms: we're just people too, and reasonable ones at that.
Are prices adjusted?
Our prices are adjusted annually on 1 April in line with inflation (CBS index), in accordance with the Uniform Conditions for the Hospitality Industry.
Do you work with a minimum spend?
On popular days (think: Friday and Saturday evenings in high season) we apply a minimum revenue threshold. Not to be pricey — but because on those days we get so many requests that we have to choose. The minimum revenue lets us offer sharper prices on quieter days to people with a smaller budget. That way we try to give everyone who wants to celebrate with us a spot that fits both the dream and the wallet. The exact threshold depends on the date — just ask when you request your estimate.
How far in advance should I book?
That depends on the day and the season. Popular dates (Friday, Saturday, May–September) are sometimes booked a year ahead. Midweek and in low season there's often availability at shorter notice. Give us a call and we'll see what's possible.
When do I lock everything in?
Three weeks before your event we finalise numbers, menu and programme. Until then you can pass on changes. If the guest count drops by more than 10%, cancellation charges apply to the cancelled portion.
Food & drink
Honest kitchen, led by the seasons.
Can you accommodate dietary needs and allergies?
Yes. Let us know in advance and the kitchen will tailor the menu accordingly. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free — you name it. The sooner we know, the better.
Do you have your own kitchen?
Yes. Het Broeker Huis has its own kitchen that cooks with seasonal produce, partly over a wood fire. Everything is prepared here — from coffee with our house-roasted Boontje to a five-course dinner.
Can I bring my own catering?
You can, against a buy-out fee. Get in touch for the terms.
How does paying for drinks afterwards work?
You pay afterwards for what was actually drunk. No drink packages, no surprises up front. After the event you receive an itemised invoice.
Can I taste beforehand?
Yes — and we recommend it. Book a table in the restaurant and you'll get a good sense of the kitchen and what to expect at your party or wedding. Want to taste specific dishes or run through your exact menu? We'll try to fit that into our operation. Sometimes we have to cook for it separately or schedule a moment — in which case we'll quote a price in advance.
Do I need to reserve for the restaurant?
Not necessarily, but it's wise. At weekends especially we're often full. You can always drop in — chances are we'll have room. But want to be sure? Just reserve via our website.
Getting here & parking
Fifteen minutes from Amsterdam, a five-minute walk.
How do I get to Het Broeker Huis?
Het Broeker Huis is at Leeteinde 16 in Broek in Waterland — a fifteen-minute drive from Amsterdam.
By public transport: bus 110, 111, 112, 273, 314, 315 or 316 from Amsterdam Central, or night bus N14 — a bus runs every 8 minutes. You're there in a quarter of an hour. From the bus stop it's a five-minute walk along the Havenrak to Het Broeker Huis.
Cycling through the Volgermeer nature reserve or along the dyke is no hardship either.
Where can I park?
For free at the large car park on the Nieuwland. From there it's a beautiful five-minute walk to Het Broeker Huis.
Don't drive further into the village. After a lap of frustration you'll be back where you started ten minutes later.
Is Het Broeker Huis accessible for people with reduced mobility?
Yes. A parking spot right by the door, a wheelchair-accessible building, an adapted toilet. Questions about what is and isn't possible? Call us and we'll go through everything with you.
Decorating & styling
It's your party — and you get to hang the streamers yourself.
Can I decorate the space myself?
Yes. You can style everything entirely to your own taste and theme. Want help? We know a few stylists who really have the knack — say the word and you'll have their number.
No bells and whistles needed? As standard we set out crisp white tablecloths, napkins and little vases of wildflowers.
Can I bring my own photographer, DJ or wedding planner?
Of course. And if you don't have anyone: we know plenty. Stylists, hairdressers, planners, DJs, photographers — you name it. We're happy to put you in touch, but we don't offer it ourselves and don't earn anything from it. Already have someone? Great, we work with everyone.
What isn't allowed?
Drawing pins, duct tape, confetti cannons and other things that could damage the historic building. Come up with something else — we'll help you think.
When can I decorate?
Booked the whole day? From 09:00. Half a day? An hour and a half before the start.
Decorating the evening before is possible too, provided the hall is empty. And the following morning, if your event starts in the afternoon. For evening hours you pay no room hire — only the staff member who needs to be present.
Music & tech
The basics are here, and you can always add more.
Is sound equipment available?
Yes. Professional light and sound are in place, including two wireless microphones. Free to use. The setup can be expanded in consultation with our technician.
Is a projector available?
Yes. A projector and a mobile LCD screen are available to hire per session.
Can I bring my own DJ or band?
Of course. A DJ or band can plug into our sound system. Want a DJ? We have a few favourites on hand and are happy to put you in touch.
Bringing your own sound system? That's possible, but then we have to apply for a permit — and that costs money.
How late can the music go on?
We stick to the applicable noise standards and local by-laws. In practice: around 00:00 the music gradually turns down. At 01:00 it's the last round and things really are winding up.
Broek is small. And that's exactly why it works so well here. Almost everyone who celebrates here does one thing the same on the way out: quietly. No shouting, no honking, no farewell speech in the street at 01:30. That's the unwritten village rule — it's how we stay good neighbours.
Spaces & capacity

How many guests fit?
In total: 2 to 250 people (250 is the fire-safety maximum, excluding the restaurant).
Which spaces are there?
Seven: the Grote Zaal (up to 170 standing), the Tuinzaal (up to 80), the Regentessenkamer (up to 25), the Binnenplaats courtyard (up to 260), the terrace, the restaurant (available exclusively as a hall on Mondays and Tuesdays) and De Neeltje — our boat for up to 8 people. Can I use the courtyard too?
For parties and weddings the courtyard is always included. 260 m² of outdoor space with trees, mood lighting and room to dance.
What if it rains?
We always order good weather, but sometimes it's a bit like the postal service and doesn't arrive on time. You always hire a hall indoors — the courtyard comes free with it. Had you planned your ceremony in the courtyard and it's bucketing down that morning? Then we simply move the ceremony to the Grote Zaal.
Determined to sit outside no matter what? Then we can cover the courtyard with a large marquee. Not a cheap plastic party tent, but a proper one — think circus, think Lowlands. In winter especially, that tent brings a lovely atmosphere of its own.

Which terms and conditions apply?
The Uniform Conditions for the Hospitality Industry (UVH) apply to all agreements. The full text is available on request and can be viewed on site. The UVH cover matters such as cancellation, force majeure, complaints and payment.
Is Het Broeker Huis an official wedding venue?
Yes. The registrar of the municipality of Waterland conducts marriages at Het Broeker Huis. So you can hold your ceremony here too.
Is Het Broeker Huis child-friendly?
Very. We have a play corner, an extensive children's menu, coloured pencils and more than enough space. We're in a village full of children — we're used to it. In fact, we enjoy it. It is nice, though, if you tidy up the play corner after your children.
Can I stay overnight?
Yes. Het Broeker Huis has a B&B. We have a minimum stay of two nights. See the stay-over page for more information.
Where can I smoke?
Not indoors. Outside we have a smoking table, which we'll extend on request when there are lots of smokers. Can't or won't smoke in the courtyard? Then we ask you to smoke in the alley, not in front of the building.
Do you record conversations?
To prepare your event down to the last detail, we record planning conversations with Plaud.ai — a European, GDPR-compliant service. That way we don't miss a single detail. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes. On a lead, please.
