Walk through Waterland

From a village loop to a polder trek — four routes, each with its own character.

Broek in Waterland lies at the heart of Waterland. Tens of kilometres of walking routes, more national monuments than anywhere else in the Netherlands, and a calm that feels quite unexpected 15 minutes from Amsterdam.

Every route begins at Het Broeker Huis. You park for free at the Nieuwland (5 min walk) and when the walk is done, you join us for coffee and lunch. The only things you need to bring: waterproof shoes and a coat. And time. In a hurry? Leave that at home.

Four ways to discover Waterland. Choose your own pace.

Noordmeer route: The deep polder

About 1 hour. Blue-marked. Quiet and water.

The Noordmeer route runs around a deep, open expanse of polder water where you feel very small. No houses, no roads — only polder and water and sky. About seven kilometres, well marked with blue stickers.

Please note: closed from 15 March to 15 June (breeding season). Bring waterproof shoes. Start at Het Broeker Huis, walk the village loop, and you're at the beginning.

What you feel in the Noordmeer: that you belong to something greater.

Walk, get lost, unwind, come home.

Every route begins & ends here.

You're tired. But in the good way. Grains of sand in your shoes, fresh lungs, an empty head. We have coffee from our own recipe (Boontje), fresh bread and soup that changes with the season.

The polder makes you hungry. Come and walk. We'll take care of the rest.

Reserve your table in advance. Especially at the weekend
