Familiar, honest, no frills
No surprise menu. No three-bite amuse-bouche that looks more like a painting than a meal. Just a menu with dishes you recognise. Made with honest ingredients, on a plate you don't need to photograph for Instagram first. And a chalkboard on the wall that shows which side of the bed the chef got out of this morning.
Meat with cracking-good gravy, wood-fire roasted chicken, fresh fish from the market, a stew that spent the whole night in the coals. French fries (we know that thick-cut fry by now), salad without fuss and roasted seasonal vegetables. For dessert? A warm brownie with ice cream and a crème brûlée. Just keep it simple. That's tasty enough.
An evening at the House
Long, leisurely dining.
The team is ready. The kitchen is running, the chalkboard still wet. You walk in the way you’d walk into your neighbour’s place — no dress code, no reservation confirmation in your hand.
A beer at the bar. At the table a bottle of wine and some pâté with bread to start. The dishes come when they’re ready, not when the timer goes off. No second seating, no rush, no waiter asking at half past eight whether you’d like the bill. You stay here as long as you like. And when it grows dark outside and the candle wax runs across the table, you might just order one last glass after all.
This is how we eat here. Not because it has to be special — but because this is simply how it goes in a village hall that happens to be a restaurant too.

When
You can dine Friday & Saturday, from 17:00–21:00. During the day we’re simply here too — for coffee, lunch & drinks.
Reservations
Booking ahead is smart — we deliberately don't have too many tables. But do just drop in when you're hungry. There's always room for one more.
Getting here
Bus 312, 314 or 316 from Amsterdam Centraal or Station Noord — fifteen minutes. Free parking at Nieuwland, five minutes' walk.
With children
Children big and small get just as tasty and generous a plate as mum & dad. Play corner, lemonade, colouring page & kids' menu. What do you mean, "I don't like that"?
